Kate Gilroy
Biography
Kate Gilroy, PhD, ScM is a highly competent, PhD-level epidemiologist with 20 years’ experience in developing and implementing complex, applied monitoring, evaluation and research in public health, with an emphasis on community and child health programs.
She currently is a Senior Technical Advisor in Measurement, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) at JSI and works on the MOMENTUM Knowledge Accelerator, MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience and other projects.
At JSI, Kate previously worked with the Child Health team at the USAID Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) and supported teams in DRC, Nigeria and Zimbabwe to better monitor, evaluate and implement RMNCH programs and global child health MEL activties. Prior to joining MCSP, Kate worked for IntraHealth International supporting MMEL work in DRC, Kenya, Mali, Senegal and Tajikistan related to health systems strengthening, the health workforce and service delivery (such as family planning).
Prior to IntraHealth International, Kate was on the faculty of Johns Hopkins School of Public Health as an Assistant Scientist in the Department of International Health and her work focused on evaluating and researching child health and survival programs across Africa. Kate earned her ScM and PhD in infectious disease epidemiology from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Before earning her degrees, she was a Peace Corps volunteer working on sustainable agriculture in Guatemala.
Kate is professionally proficient in French and proficient in Spanish.
