Kathy Leung

Biography

Kathy Leung is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Public Health, The University of Hong Kong. She is also a co‐investigator at the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health and an honorary investigator at The University of Hong Kong‐Shenzhen Hospital. Kathy received her BS in Biological Sciences and BA in Economics from Peking University, and her MPhil and PhD in Infectious Disease Modelling from The University of Hong Kong.

In recent years, Kathy has been interested in the mathematical modeling of a wide range of diseases such as influenza, RSV, MERS, COVID‐19, hand‐foot‐and‐mouth disease, HPV, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer. She also conducts epidemiological and economic evaluations of disease intervention strategies, such as HMFD vaccination, public health and social measures against COVID‐19, and risk‐based breast cancer screening. Leveraged on the latest developments in data science, she also uses machine learning to interpret viral genomic data and participates in the development of chatbots for vaccines and pharmacy with natural language processing.
