Mr Kauke Bakari Zimbwe
Biography
Kauke Bakari Zimbwe is a pharmacist and Drug Registration Officer at the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority.
He was previously a consultant clinical pharmacist in infectious diseases, haematology/oncology, and bone marrow transplantation at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital Dodoma, Tanzania. He is a Fleming Fund Fellowship alumnus studying antimicrobial use in human health. Zimbwe has gained expertise in infectious diseases through programs at St. Jude Global Academy, focusing on Global Infectious Diseases and Intensive Infection Control.
As a contributing member of the Tanzania National Medicine and Therapeutics Committee, he played a significant role in developing the Tanzania STGs/EDL for 2021, adopting the WHO/AWaRe list. Moreover, he participated in the Tanzania National TWG on AMS, reviewing the 2nd edition of the NAP on AMR. Additionally, Mr Zimbwe was engaged in IVI's RADAAR Project, which emphasised advocacy for AMR policy.
He is a WHO-External Review Group member for controlled medicines policies, representing the Society of Paediatric Oncology and a subject matter expert in sickle cell disease under the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association. Furthermore, he mentors participants in the CPA/Africa Leadership Fellowship AMS Programme. His researches focus on AMR surveillance. Mr Zimbwe is also acknowledged as an expert in formulating health policies, guidelines, and protocols.
