Dr Kushlani Jayatilleke

Kushlani Jayatilleke is a consultant medical microbiologist at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital and honorary senior lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka.

She holds an MBBS (University of Colombo), Diploma in Medical Microbiology and MD in Medical Microbiology (Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo). She is board certified as a specialist in Medical Microbiology with effect from 26th January 2003. She has won many awards for research including the President’s Award for Scientific Research.

She is a member of the WHO Technical Steering Group and many guideline development groups for the IPC Global Unit, WHO HQ, the committee for revision of the list of critically important antimicrobials for human medicine, 6th edition, WHO HQ, the Asian Network for Surveillance of Resistant Pathogens (local network organiser), group for developing the National Strategic Plan for combating AMR (2017) and the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme and AwaRe guidelines in Sri Lanka, 2024, and the national advisory committee for combating AMR Sri Lanka.
