Prof Laith Abu-Raddad
Biography
Prof Laith Abu-Raddad is a Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar, Cornell University. He has previously held academic and research positions at prominent institutions, including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the University of Washington, Imperial College London, and Osaka University.
Prof Abu-Raddad’s research is multidisciplinary, focusing on the epidemiology of infectious diseases through the use of analytical and computational methods alongside conventional epidemiological study designs. He has led numerous high-impact studies with significant international and regional implications, publishing extensively in leading journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Science, JAMA, Nature Medicine, The Lancet, PLOS Medicine, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Hepatology, and Clinical Infectious Diseases.
His research encompasses a broad spectrum of infectious diseases, including SARS-CoV-2, HIV, other sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, and SARS. He has served as principal investigator for numerous projects funded by international agencies and has acted as an expert advisor or consultant to various international organizations.
Prof Abu-Raddad’s work has played a pivotal role in shaping public health policy at both regional and global levels.
