Linda Jones
Biography
Currently working as the Senior Adviser for Education in Emergencies with UNICEF, Linda has over 20 years of experience in education, nine of which was as a Chief of Education for UNICEF in Nepal, Sierra Leone and Somalia.
Linda started her career as a teacher in the UK before joining the curriculum development unit within the Ministry of Education in Guyana. Linda then worked with several international NGOs prior to joining UNICEF. She has worked on in conflict, post conflict, protracted crises and responded to natural disasters. Linda has worked closely with Ministries of Education in Nepal, Sierra Leone and Somalia developing education sector plans and education contingency plans as well as supporting coordination and the development of various education emergency response plans in all the Countries she has worked. Linda has facilitated trainings with Government, civil society and NGO partners on education in emergencies including the INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies. She brings experience of collaborating with humanitarian partners as well as with development partners through Sector Wide Approaches. Over her career Linda has worked on ECD, Primary, Secondary, non-formal, early grade learning, technical and vocational education and systems building within the education sector.
