Biography

Lisa A. Robinson is Deputy Director, Center for Health Decision Science, and Senior Research Scientist, Center for Health Decision Science and Center for Risk Analysis, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America. She received her Master in Public Policy degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 1982, and her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude with Distinction in Political Science and International Relations, from Carleton College in 1979. Her research and teaching focus on the conduct of benefit-cost analysis.

She has led numerous assessments of the costs, benefits, and other impacts of environmental, health, and safety policies and regulations, developed related methods, and drafted guidance documents. She applies these methods in high-, middle-, and low-income settings. Ms. Robinson has served on several expert advisory panels as well as President of the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis and a Councilor of the Society for Risk Analysis. She has received several honors and awards including the Best Paper Award from Risk Analysis: An International Journal (2023) and the Best Symposium Award from the Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis (2019). Ms. Robinson also received the Outstanding Practitioner Award (2021) and the Richard J. Burk Outstanding Service Award (2013) from the Society for Risk Analysis, which named her a Fellow (2016). From the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis, she received the Richard O. Zerbe Distinguished Service Award (2015) and was named a Fellow (2022), its highest award for substantial contributions to theory and practice.
