Manal Ghazzawi
Biography
Dr Manal Ghazzawi is a doctor of pharmacy, a public health specialist and a consultant clinical pharmacist (Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists). She is also a foundation fellow of the newly established Postgraduate College of Health Specialists in Sierra Leone.
She is a health entrepreneur, a laureate for women in Africa Entrepreneurs 2020, CEO of Citiglobe Pharmacies Ltd,
She is a preceptor involved in the training of graduate pharmacy professionals. She is also an executive member of the National Drug Expert Committee of the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone (SL). In 2015, during the Ebola outbreak, she was the study pharmacist for the Phase II Chinese Ebola Vaccine Clinical Trial.
Since 2018, she has become a member of national technical working group of clinical experts, where she contributed in formulating the national standard treatment guidelines and essential medicine list for 2020. She is also a clinical expert for the Sierra Leone AEFIs/AESIs Causality Assessment Committee.
She has been involved in the fight against hepatitis and diabetes since 2014. In 2019, she established her own local NGO called the KnowHep Foundation SL, involved in mass immunization, awareness raising, screening and sensitization, to curb the spread of hepatitis in Sierra Leone. So far she has contributed in screening and vaccinating thousands of Sierra Leoneans against hepatitis.
