Biography

Maria F Muñiz is the Senior Adviser Statistics & Monitoring (Health, Immunization, MNCAH & HIV) within the Division of Data, Analytics, Planning & Monitoring in UNICEF Headquarters.

She has over 20 years of experience in public health data management and analysis, implementation research, monitoring and evaluation, information systems and digital health.  Previously, she served as a Health System Strengthening (HSS) Specialist in the UNICEF Eastern Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO), providing technical assistance to countries in the region in health systems, with focus on information systems strengthening.

During that time, she led regional level MNCAH data related initiatives (situation analysis, dashboards, country profiles, monitoring, implementation research) and represented UNICEF in various strategic partnerships, collaborations and engagements with donors, academic and research institutes, United Nations, and implementing partners.

Prior to that she was based in UNICEF New York, as part of the Implementation Research and Delivery Science unit in Health Section, serving as a Health and Statistics and Monitoring Specialist.
