Mariana Dyakova
Biography
Mariana Dyakova, MD, MPH, PhD, FFPH (UK and the Ireland) is an interdisciplinary public health professional with more than 20 years’ international experience across medicine, epidemiology, public health, academic and applied research, policy, and practice. Originally from Bulgaria, she is a Deputy Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre on Investment for Health and Well-being and International Health Lead for Public Health Wales, UK.
Mariana holds an Honorary Clinical Research Fellowship with the University of Warwick; and an Honorary Senior Lectureship with Cardiff University. She has a diverse portfolio and publication track record including noncommunicable disease prevention and management; sustainable value-based investment and solutions for population well-being and health equity; health system strengthening and transformation.
Mariana has been involved in national, European and global programmes, mobilizing knowledge to inform policy and practice, building capacity, and enabling innovation. She is sitting on the WHO Healthy Cities Scientific Board, WHO regions for the Health Network Steering Group, and on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Public Health and Frontiers of Public Health.
Mariana has been recently seconded to the WHO Venice Office on Investment for Health and Development to work on the WHO Well-being Economy initiative.
