Martin Choo, MMedSc
Biography
Martin Choo is a global AIDS advocate based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He works as the General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur AIDS Support Services Society. In his current role, Martin Choo oversees community-based services on prevention, treatment and care for people living with HIV in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, and the surrounding areas. These community-centred services are implemented in collaboration with the Malaysian AIDS Council, health departments and the Ministry of Health.
Besides his work, Martin Choo is also a community-based researcher affiliated with the Asia Pacific Network of People with HIV (APN Plus). He has designed, implemented, analysed and reported on peer-led participatory research, among people living with HIV, men who have sex with men and transgender women. . In 2016, Martin was appointed a Trustee of the Asia Pacific Council of AIDS Service Organizations. Martin has been advising WHO and UNAIDS in multiple capacities related to HIV testing, treatment and care since 2015 and serves as a member of WHO HIVResNet Steering Group.
