Masahiro Hashizume
Biography
Professor Masahiro Hashizume is a physician and an environmental epidemiologist with research interests in climate change and human health, particularly in current impacts, future projections, adaptation strategies, and health co-benefits of mitigation policies. He completed his residency training in paediatrics in Tokyo, then earned an MSc in Environmental Health and Policy and a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prof. Hashizume served as a lead author of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report and is a member of the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Global Air Pollution and Health. He has contributed to WHO’ s publications, including the regional synthesis report on climate change and health in the Pacific Island countries. In Japan, he chairs the Working Group for the Assessment of Health Impacts of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment. Professor Hashizume will provide insight with his expertise on health impacts associated with climate change, air pollution and dust.
