Biography
Unit Head, TB Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment, Care and Innovation
Dr Matteo Zignol is the Unit Head of the Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment and Care unit at the WHO Department for HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Geneva, Switzerland. The focus of his unit is to develop policy guidelines throughout the spectrum of prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and care for HIV, TB, hepatitis and STIs; shape the research agenda; lead the development and publication of global strategies and approaches; and stimulate the generation, translation and dissemination of valuable knowledge.
Dr Zignol has been working at WHO since 2003. He is an infectious disease specialist and clinical epidemiologist. He holds a MD from the University of Padua, Italy, and an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, US. He has contributed to several peer reviewed publications on different topics in peer review journals and has written several book chapters.
