Millicent Alooh
Biography
Ms Millicent Alooh, H.S.C., is a biomedical engineer and project manager with over 14 years of experience in Kenya’s healthcare sector. She currently serves as the Regional Director for Biomedical Engineering under the NEST360 program in Africa, where she leads strategic initiatives to improve the management of neonatal healthcare technologies across multiple countries. She also holds the position of Honorable National Secretary General for the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya (AMEK), showcasing her leadership within the professional biomedical engineering community.
She possesses specialized expertise in priority medical devices, global health policies and standards of health products, and health technology management.
Her academic journey includes a postgraduate degree in project planning and management from the University of Nairobi, an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Egerton University, and a diploma in biomedical engineering from the Technical University of Mombasa. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Nairobi, focusing on sustainable practices in biomedical engineering practices and health technology management.
Her exceptional contributions during the COVID-19 oxygen crisis earned her the Head of State Commendation (H.S.C.) from former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2021. Eng. Alooh has also been honoured with national and international accolades, including the Star of the Year Award, the COVID-19 Heroine Prize, the Biomedical Champion of the Year 2021 Award and the AAMI Health Technology Management Award 2024.
