Mina Adel
Biography
Mina Adel is an accomplished public health and vaccine manufacturing expert with extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, technology transfer, and policy development.
He currently works a Senior Technical Officer - Manufacturing Technology Transfer and Intellectual Propoerty for Africa CDC and GIZ BACKUP Health team within TESS MAV+ of Team Europe.
He also works as a consultant for the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) and Africa CDC collaboration on a continental project to advance access to monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and product optimization in Africa, addressing both infectious diseases (IDs) and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
He has been appointed by the World Health Organization as a member of the WHO Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Combination Vaccines, where he provides strategic guidance on the development and integration of combination vaccines in LMICs, contributing to the design of evaluation frameworks and supporting global and regional implementation.
He has joined the Panel of Experts at the RIGHT Foundation, where he evaluates global health R&D proposals, assessing their scientific, technical, and strategic alignment with global health objectives, and supports high-impact investments in health innovation for LMICs.
He has also been selected as a member of the Africa CDC Technical Working Group (TWG) on simplifying and harmonizing trade regulations for African vaccine manufacturing and establishing a regional access and supply chain consortium, where he supports the simplification of regulatory barriers and harmonization of trade policies across African Union member states, advancing integrated supply chain frameworks and sustainable vaccine production on the continent.
Previously, Mina played a pivotal role as Project Manager for the WHO/MPP mRNA Vaccine Technology Transfer Hub in Egypt, where he led technology transfer, R&D coordination, training programs, and fundraising efforts to enhance local vaccine production capabilities. His expertise extends to supporting regional vaccine manufacturing strategies, fostering collaborations between industry, academia, and research institutions.
Earlier in his career, he was involved in developing the national immunization strategy at the Egyptian Ministry of Health and led capacity building initiatives and training programs. At the Egyptian Drug Authority, he led the biologics and vaccines registration department and played a key role in updating the national regulations to meet WHO standards and reach maturity level 3. Mina holds a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Brunel University of London. He is PMP certified and has actively participated in global discussions on vaccine manufacturing sustainability, technology transfer, and public health benefits.
