Biography

Mitch Matoga is a physician, infectious disease epidemiologist, and implementation scientist. His work focuses on epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and management of sexually transmitted infections, particularly gonorrhoea, syphilis, and chlamydia. His research spans antimicrobial resistance surveillance, vaccine studies, partner notification strategies, implementation science, and HIV prevention among populations affected by STIs.

He also contributes to national technical committees supporting sexual health and infectious disease programmes in Malawi and serves as Co-Chair of the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) Science Committee on Sexually Transmitted Infections.
