Mr Claudio Méndez

Mr Claudio A. Méndez is Associate Professor of Health Policy at the Instituto de Salud Pública at Universidad Austral de Chile. Currently, he is a board director of the Chilean Society of Public Health. He has carried out research, teaching and outreach in health systems, health policies, health services, and global health. Through his research lines, he has participated in projects and teams from the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization. Likewise, he has participated in book chapters and published in international and national scientific journals on his research field.

In April of 2016, the fomer president of Chile Mrs Michelle Bachelet apointed professor Méndez as Health Authority of the Región de Los Ríos. He served from April 2016 to March 2018, implementing health policies and overseeing epidemiological surveillance. He has also served as director of the Instituto de Salud Pública at Universidad Austral de Chile.

Mr Méndez holds a Master's of Public Health degree from Universidad de Chile, and a Bachellor's degree in Midwifery from the Universidad Austral de Chile.
