Biography

Mr Newton Tawanda Runyowa is a Zimbabwean Medical Laboratory Scientist and Health Systems Strengthening Advisor with extensive experience and expertise in diagnostics implementation and in advancing market access to safe, quality, and effective in vitro diagnostics in low- and middle-income countries.

With training in Development Practice, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Field Epidemiology, Quality Assurance, and Medical Laboratory Sciences, he has worked for over two decades in the public, private, and research sectors and supported national health programmes to build resilient laboratory systems, integrate diagnostics, and promote innovation in healthcare delivery.

His professional interests include expanding access to diagnostics at the point of need, health policy, local manufacturing, and the evolving regulatory landscape for essential health technologies. Mr Runyowa is committed to advancing Universal Health Coverage and global health security as critical enablers of the Sustainable Development agenda.
