Biography

Dr Naoko Ishikawa is a family physician, working at Kawasaki settlement clinic in Kanagawa, Japan. A graduate from Akita University, Dr Ishikawa was trained as a physician in Japan, obtained a master’s degree on Infection and Health in the Tropics at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and PhD from the University of London. Her main area of work in public health includes control and elimination of communicable diseases in low and middle-income countries with particular focus on HIV, STI, and viral hepatitis. She has previously worked in HIV, viral hepatitis and STI unit, WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific from 2014 through 2021 as a medical officer, then as a coordinator. She was involved in the work on the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B in Asia and the Pacific region.
