Ms Mercy Njeru Serves as a Public Health Specialist with US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Kenya. Ms Nerju has worked with US CDC for the past 8 years with the HIV/TB program. In this role mercy has worked very closely with the Ministry of Health Kenya in system strengthening looking at Laboratory program and the Infection prevention and control areas. Ms Nerju was part of the Ebola response team that worked in western Africa specifically, she supported the IPC efforts in the Ebola outbreak response in Liberia where she worked closely with MOH team in Liberia. In the current COVID-19 global pandemic, Ms. Nerju has been part of the Kenya IPC National Taskforce that has worked tirelessly towards guiding and supporting the MOH Kenya on the COVID-19 response activities. This has included policies, guidelines, tools and standard protocols development.

Ms Nerju has a Master of science degree in Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Management from Jomo Kenyatta University college (JKUAT) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) on Health Leadership and management from the United States International University (USIU). She has a wealth of Knowledge having worked with the Ministry of Health Kenya before joining CDC and has continues supporting Kenya MOH even after moving to CDC.

Ms Njeru lives in Nairobi Kenya and has a zeal and a passion on aspects of Health System Strengthening, Health workers safety and IPC.
