Ms Thi Mai Lan Nguyen
Biography
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Lan, from Vietnam, is an Independent Consultant in Media and Communication for Development with focus on environment and health issues. Her qualifications are Master in Development Management from Asian Institute of Management and Bachelor’s in Journalism from Vietnam Academy of Journalism and Communication.
Ms. Mai Lan started her career in the private sector in foreign investment consultancy as a media and business support manager. She then participated in Fredskorpset Norway ‘s South-South exchange program in "Environmental communication exchange project in Asia" and worked as a volunteer environmental journalist in The Vientiane Times Newspaper (Laos). She conducted journalism field trips in Vietnam and other Mekong countries - Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand - to publish feature stories about regional environmental issues and wrote research topic pages on aid and development, SDGs, and natural resources.
With 20+ years experience working in the field, Ms. Mai Lan has a strong network with media and journalists in the Mekong region and with development experts in ASEAN and Asia Pacific. She has broad connections with development partners, NGOs and field experience working with grassroot communities. She also worked for international donors such as AFD, EWMI, CFI in environmental communication and with German cooperation in just energy transition (JET). In recent years she has focused more on health issues and worked with WHO as an independent consultant on communication strategy for scaling up climate change resilient and environmentally sustainable health care facilities and communities. Ms. Mai Lan will share her network, expertise and knowledge on communication for development and environmental health to the CCE TAG.
