Professor Oyinlola Oyebode
Biography
Oyinlola Oyebode is a Professor of Public Health and leads the Centre for Public Health and Policy at Queen Mary, University of London. She has been a fellow of the Faculty of Public Health since 2014 and holds an honorary consultant contract with the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities. Oyinlola Oyebode has expertise in diet, obesity, and the food environment, as well as the health of marginalised urban populations. She has initiated and led evidence synthesis projects conducted by international teams, examining dietary behaviour and interventions in the UK and globally. Her primary research includes the evaluation of interventions aimed at improving diet and/or reducing obesity, in collaboration with non-academic organisations at local, national, and international levels. More recently, she has focused on research investigating environmentally sustainable and healthy diets. She is a member of the THRIVING consortium (Transdisciplinary Health Research to Identify Viable Interventions for Net Zero Goals), which explores ways to reduce the environmental impact of the UK diet while maximising health co-benefits. Oyinlola Oyebode also supervises PhD and postdoctoral projects that examine the nutritional adequacy and acceptability of plant-based diets for children and emerging adults.
