Biography

Dr. Pravin Amin is Head of Department of Critical Care Medicine at Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, and visiting consultant at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, India. He carried out pioneering work in the development of critical care medicine in India and was instrumental in forming the Indian Society Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) in 1993 of which he was the founder executive committee member. He later served as the society’s national president between 1998-1999. He was the second Indian to become the Fellow of American College of Critical Care Medicine in San Antonio, Texas SCCM meeting in 2003, was the first Indian to become Fellow of Neurocritical Care Society, USA at NCS meeting held in Vancouver Canada in 2019. He served on editorial boards of various journals including Nutrition Syracuse, New York, of Indian Journal of Critical Care Medicine, Acute and Critical Care, South Korea. He provided major contributions in the development of the first post-doctoral fellowship programme in Critical Care for the National Boards, Ministry of Health, Government of India. He served as Chairperson of Guidelines Committee and education committee of ISCCM. He represented India as council member of World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (2009-2017).
