Professor Albertino Damasceno

Professor Albertino Damasceno is a Full Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique. 

He was the previous Head of the Cardiac Department of the Maputo Central Hospital for more than 35 years. 

Now he is the head of a very productive research unit that publishes more than 15 papers per year in journals with a high impact factor. 

Involved in several research groups, both in Africa as well as international, he is co-author of several seminal papers in the cardiovascular field in Africa. 

Member of the Lancet Commission on Hypertension he is also for more than 8 years member of the of the African Advisory Board of the International Society of Hypertension. 

He was the African coordinator of the MMM movement organized by the ISH in the last years and is the focal point for hypertension in the Ministry of Health of Mozambique. 

His areas of interest are hypertension, heart failure, stroke and risk factors of non-communicable diseases. 

He has published more than 200 papers in peer review journals with more than 30.500 citations, a h índex of 55 and an i 10 index of 111.
