Biography

Professor Chen Wang is a leading expert in prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory disease in China and has worked closely with WHO at all levels in prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, tobacco use and tuberculosis. He is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an international member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine and a member of the CAMS Academic Advisory Committee. He currently holds the position of Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of China Academy of Medical science (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). 

Prof Chen Wang is best known for his leadership in management of chronic disease, health research, health systems, medical technology innovation system and health workforce development in China over decades. Drawing from his expertise and experience through his role in NCD prevention and control, health policy, research and education, Prof WANG actively engages with civil society and multilateral organizations to promote collaborative action for improving global health. He currently serves as Member of WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Tuberculosis, Vice Chair of the Global Alliance Against Chronic Respiratory Diseases,Board Member of the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases, and Commissioner of The Lancet COVID-19 Commission.
