Professor Eli Fenichel
Biography
Eli Fenichel is the Knobloch Family Professor of Natural Resource Economics at School of the Environment at Yale University in the United States of America. Professor Fenichel’s areas of expertise include natural resource and environmental economics, economic epidemiology, environmental valuation, natural capital, sustainable development, and ecological-economic dynamics. Professor Fenichel has a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Ecology, a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, and a PhD in Fisheries and Wildlife with a specialization in Resource and Environmental Economics. Professor Fenichel is a former Assistant Director at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and has served on the boards of many interdisciplinary research institutes and centers. Professor Fenichel has advised the United Nations Statistics Division and the World Bank. Professor Fenichel was awarded the best paper by the theory section of the Ecological Society of America in 2020 and a Smart Prosperity Initiative Global Fellow in 2019-2020. Professor Fenichel’s research on healthcare labor supply and childcare demand has been cited by the U.S. Senate, and Professor Fenichel’s research on valuing natural capital was featured in the Dasgupta Review on the Economics of Biodiversity.
