Prof Gillian Biscoe
Biography
(Adj) Professor Gillian Biscoe AM is a long-time advisor and consultant to the WHO Headquarters and regionally (WPRO, EURO and EMRO), Asian Development Bank, Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and others. She was the first woman in Australia to be the CEO of a major hospital, and then Secretary of a Health Ministry, and the first Australian to be appointed Deputy Director-General of the New Zealand Ministry of Health. In 2017, her leadership and impact nationally and internationally were recognised with the Order of Australia (Member).
Gillian is the Chair of the new Technical Advisory Group on Universal Health Coverage in the Western Pacific Region (UHC TAG), building on her effectiveness as Chair of the previous two UHC TAGs.
