Biography
Professor Heather Ferguson teaches Infectious Disease Ecology at the University of Glasgow. She is a vector-borne disease specialist whose research encompasses study of the ecology, behaviour and control of mosquitoes that transmit malaria and arboviruses. She is involved in the development of new tools for vector surveillance and control with partners from endemic countries in Africa, South America and Asia, and studies on the emergence of vector-borne diseases in Europe from a One Health perspective. Professor Ferguson has a long-term research and training collaboration with the Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania where she holds a visiting scientist position. She is a former member (2017-2022) and Co-Chair (2018-2022) of the WHO Vector Control Advisory Group.
