Biography

Jian Li is Professor of Work and Health at The Fielding School of Public Health and the School of Nursing of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the United States of America. Additionally, Professor Li is Co-Director of the Occupational Epidemiology Program at UCLA, in the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Southern California Education and Research Center. Professor Li’s areas of expertise include occupational epidemiology, psychosocial factors in the workplace, and work-related cardiovascular diseases and mental disorders. Professor Li has an M.D. in Preventive Medicine, a PhD in Public Health, and a Doctorate in Safety Sciences. Since 2017, Professor Li has been actively involved in the WHO/ILO Joint Estimates of the Work-related Burden of Disease and Injury, having co-led a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effect of exposure to long working hours on ischaemic heart disease. Professor Li is the Co-Chair of the Cardiovascular Disease Working Group, in the Cancer, Reproductive, Cardiovascular and Other Chronic Disease Prevention Cross-Sector Council, U.S. National Occupational Research Agenda. Additionally, Professor Li is the Vice-Chair of the Scientific Committee on Cardiology in Occupational Health, in the International Commission on Occupational Health. Professor Li was awarded the Adolph Kammer Authorship Award from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in 2020.
