Professor Veronika Skvortsova
Biography
Dr. habil. Prof Veronika Skvortsova, born Nov. 1st, 1960 in Moscow is a prominent scientist and high-level expert in domestic and global healthcare with more than 40 years of experience.
Prof Skvortsova is an influential scholar whose research focuses mainly on the vascular pathology of the brain. She pioneered the use of neuroprotective agents and thrombolytic therapy during the acute period of the ischemic stroke.
Prof Skvortsova is recognized nationally and internationally having more than 600 articles, monographs and textbooks and being a Correspondent Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2004) and other bodies.
Prof Skvortsova has experience at highest healthcare strategic levels. For years she served as the Deputy Minister, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation and the Head of the Federal Medica-Biological Agency.
Prof Skvortsova has an outstanding record in the global healthcare.
In 2011 she pioneered the Noncommunicable diseases agenda, organized and conducted the First global ministerial conference on healthy lifestyles and NCDs control in Moscow, supported the launch of the United Nations High-level meeting on the Prevention and Control of NCDs and the adoption of Political Declaration.
In 2017 Prof Skvortsova was elected as the President of the Ubileum Seventieth World Health Assembly
