Quamrun Nahar
Biography
Dr. Quamrun Nahar is a medical doctor from Bangladesh with a Master in Medical Science and a PhD in Sociology. Dr. Nahar is a social scientist with extensive experience in adolescent health research and measurement. Formerly, she was Head of the Research, Maternal and Child Health Division of icddr,b – an international health research institute based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Nahar has contributed significantly to generating evidence on health and wellbeing of adolescents in Bangladesh through her independent research and technical support to national surveys. She served on national and international technical committees on adolescent health in formulating policies, and guidelines. She is a member of the Guideline Development Group of the Updated WHO Guideline on Preventing Child Marriage and Increasing Access to and Uptake of Contraception among Adolescents and led the country-level stakeholder consultation in Bangladesh. She is also a member of the Technical Advisory Group of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Exemplars.
