Biography

Professor Richard Sullivan is Professor of Cancer and Global Health at King’s College London, Director of the King’s Institute of Cancer Policy and co-Director of the Conflict and Health Research Group. Richard’s global cancer research covers cancer systems strengthening, financing, political economy, global radiotherapy, social welfare and cancer care in conflict. He leads major programs on conflict and health across the Middle East, global health security & intelligence as well as digital technologies including virtual reality enhanced surgical training. Professor Sullivan trained in surgery (urology) gaining his PhD in Biochemistry from University College London. He has over twenty years of working in international organisations including the security sector on health systems in particular cancer control and high threat infectious diseases. Richard was Clinical Director of Cancer Research UK for nearly ten years. He has also worked with wide range of international organizations around issues of biosecurity. He is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Cancer Policy, Chair of Trustees for eCancer and a health advisor to a number of governments. Richard is an active member of the National Cancer Grid of India and is currently chair of the COVID-19 & Cancer Global Taskforce.
