Rob Purdie
Biography
Country: United States
Rob
developed Disseminated Coccidioidomycosis, commonly known as Valley fever,
which a life threatening fungal infection that
can affect any organ or multiple organs in the body.
His infection failed to respond to several anti-fungal medications due to AMR
and he was forced to take medicines which had severe adverse effects and were
difficult to administer. He developed skin cancer, possibly as a result of one
of the medicines.
Even after 10 years, he still has to take medications
routinely to keep his infection in check. Rob loved outdoors, but he is forced
to spend most his time indoors. He is now a passionate advocate for Valley
Fever and AMR, and works with different stakeholders, including US Congress
Representatives, to make sure that there are more treatment options available
for everyone
