Biography

Pr Rokhaya Ndiaye is professor in Human Genetics, holding the chair of Human Genetics at the Faculty  of Medicine, Pharmacy and Odonto-Stomatology at University Cheikh Anta Diop in Senegal. She did  her basic training in Pharmacy at University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, and completed a PhD in Human Genetics at University Paris 7 in France.

She is an alumni of the US Fullbright program, founding member and general secretary of the  Senegalese Society for Human Genetics (S2GH), member of the executive committees of the African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) and the H3Africa consortium.

Her research interests focused on the role of genetic variation in cancer predisposition with a focus on breast/ovarian and oral cancers. She is also interested in unravelling the genetic diversity of the West African population to pave the way for the implementation of personalized medicine in the near future. She is leading the Senegalese Reference genome project SEN-GENOME
