Professor Rungtip Chuanchuen

Biography

Dr Rungtip Chuanchuen is a Veterinary Professor at Chulalongkorn University. She received her DVM from Chulalongkorn University and MS and PhD in Microbiology from Colorado State University.  She has directed the Center of Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring in Foodborne Pathogens (in cooperation with WHO), Global Infections Network: South-East Asia and Western Pacific region, Research Unit in Microbial Food Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance and FAO Reference Center for Antimicrobial Resistance.

Her research has focused on molecular epidemiology and mechanisms of AMR in bacteria of veterinary public health importance using the One Health approach.  She has actively contributed to the development of strategic actions to control and prevent AMR in Southeast and South Asian countries, with close collaboration with FAO RAP, including developing AMR surveillance programs, assessing, and building laboratory capacities, country situational analysis, developing guidelines for AMR monitoring, providing training, proficiency testing for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

She served on a subcommittee for the development of the national action plan of Thailand.  Dr. Chuanchuen has contributed to the Thailand National AMR surveillance program, AMR risk assessment, and the development of strategic actions to contain AMR.
