Biography

Sally Gilbert is the Manager of the Environmental Health Team in Te Whatu Ora-Health New Zealand’s National Public Health Service. Before transferring to Te Whatu Ora, as part of the reforms of the New Zealand health service, Sally was Team Manager (Environmental & Border Health Protection) for the Ministry of Health for over ten years.  She has over 20 years policy analysis experience in the public sector, specialising in health protection and environmental health (including climate change adaptation and mitigation in the health sector). Sally has been involved in the development of strategic and operational planning for public health programmes and services, including environmental health and climate change, development of national environmental health indicators, national leadership and coordination of public health officers, publication of best practice guidelines for public health officers, and preparation of Ministerial briefings and Cabinet papers.
