Professor Sandy Rihana

Biography

Dr Sandy Rihana is a results-oriented professional with a background in engineering, technology, healthcare, and innovation. She has been serving as professor and head of the Biomedical Engineering Department at Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), Lebanon since 2011.

She is a product manager certified by Facebook and Innovation and entrepreneurship educator certified by the Babson School with more than 10 years of experience in mentoring digital health projects and healthcare technologies (wearable devices, IoT in healthcare, artificial intelligence in medicine, telemedicine, and digital health solutions). She led many projects to national and international competitions, has a proven track of consultancy in health-tech industries and is a corporate trainer in different fields related to technology, innovation, design thinking, leadership, management, and others. She received the USEK-CNRS-SCOPUS Bronze award in 2019 and the Silver award in 2022.

A computer communications engineer, Sandy received her master’s degree and PhD in biomedical engineering from the Technical University of Compiegne, France. While there, she was awarded the Best PhD Prize, namely the Guy Denielou Prize. She is a Fulbright scholar at the University of South Florida, USA, and an invited researcher at Ecole Polytechnique Montreal.  Sandy is multilingual and has presented at numerous international conferences and workshops. She is the first author and co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in various domains in healthcare technology interdisciplinary journals.
