Dr Santino Severoni

Biography

Dr Santino Severoni is Head of WHO Health and Migration Programme (PHM). A medical doctor, health economist and epidemiologist, he brings more than two decades of experience across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. He has served as WHO Representative in Albania and Tajikistan, Acting Director for Health Systems and Public Health at WHO’s Regional Office for Europe, and emergency coordinator. His work has covered health sector reform, health systems strengthening, humanitarian response and WHO EURO Country Focus Initiative.

At WHO, he has contributed to the development of the global action plan on promoting the health of refugees and migrants, two world reports, the first global research agenda on health and migration, and guidance on climate change, displacement, migration and health. His current work focuses on supporting countries to translate evidence and global commitments into policies and services that better address the health needs of refugees and migrants.
