Sara Ellen Davies
Biography
Professor Sara E Davies is an International Relations scholar, whose research career is dedicated to identifying and addressing the conditions that deny humans access to civil, economic, and social human rights. Her research is focused on situations where humans face immense vulnerability: forced displacement, gender-based and sexual violence in conflict, and mass disaster events including epidemics and pandemics. She has published widely in these areas. Professor Davies is Deputy Director, Indo-Pacific Research, Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW). She leads a research program, Shocks and Violence Against Women, which examines how to scale up gender-based violence protection for at-risk populations during shocks including conflict and mass disaster events. Professor Davies is an elected fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and fellow of the Australian Institute of International Affairs. She serves on several editorial boards for international journals and book series.
