Shelley Deeks
Biography
Dr. Shelley Deeks is currently the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health for the province of Nova Scotia, Canada and an Associate Professor in Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University. She is a Canadian with over 25 years' experience as a public health physician and has worked at all levels of the public health system in Canada, and at the national level in Australia. Her areas of expertise are vaccinology (including vaccine safety), communicable disease control and epidemiology, with over 170 publications in these areas. She is the outgoing Chair of Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization or NACI, where she was an active member for 10 years. She is also currently a member of the World Health Organization’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts Polio Working Group, and a past member of the Gavi Vaccine Alliance, Vaccine Innovation Prioritization Strategy (VIPS) Steering Committee. She holds fellowships in Public Health at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
