Biography

Dr Simone Moraes Raszl is an expert in food safety, with more than 25 years of experience. She is currently working at the WHO Headquarters in Geneva, in the Nutrition and Food Safety department. She is the Head of the Standards and Scientific Advice on Nutrition and Food Safety Unit. The unit is responsible for providing the WHO scientific advice to Codex Alimentarius. She worked on the roll-out and implementation of the WHO Global Food Safety Strategy 2022-2030. Previously, she served as Regional Advisor for Food Safety in the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office, where she was responsible, among other activities, for implementing the regional food safety strategy and serving as the focal point for One Health activities. In addition to this role, she also served at the specialized regional Center for Veterinary Public Health of the Pan American Health Organization, where she initiated the modernization of the Inter-American Network for Food Analysis Laboratories and coordinated food safety activities in the region.  She also comes with experience in the private sector and academia.
