Biography

I am the Director of Food Policy at The George Institute for Global Health, with responsibility for teams in Australia, China, India, and the UK. I am also a Professorial Fellow at The University of New South Wales. My areas of technical expertise are behavioural psychology and health promotion. For almost 30 years I have conducted extensive research, advocacy, and policy work relating to the NCD risk factors of alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, poor nutrition, and insufficient physical activity. I have conducted research projects in more than 25 countries, and I work closely with colleagues and collaborators from across Asia, Europe, the UK, the US, and Canada. These relationships involve research, policy, and health advocacy work, and are built on strong communication and commitment to delivering high quality results in a timely manner.

I have published more than 400 scientific papers and delivered more than 90 invited presentations to date. I have produced more than 170 technical research reports for various government and nongovernment health-related organizations. I sit on various advisory bodies for state, national, and international bodies responsible for preventing noncommunicable diseases
