Professor Sitong Luo
Biography
Sitong Luo is a Behavioural Epidemiologist and Associate Professor at the Vanke School of Public Health, Tsinghua University, China. Her research focuses on behavioural perspectives in the fight against infectious diseases (e.g., HIV/AIDS, newly emerging diseases, vaccine hesitancy) and non-communicable diseases (e.g., tobacco use, physical inactivity). She is also conducting research on health-related organizational behaviours and implementation and evaluation of health policies. She has led and participated in several theory-based behavioural intervention trials in China and published over 40 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals. Prof. Luo teaches the course of Health Behaviours for both international and domestic master-level students and is the author of several public health textbooks. She works closely with international organizations (e.g., WHO, UNAIDS, Vital Strategies, Gates Foundation), and serves as a technical advisor for the National Health Commission, National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, and Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Prof. Luo was awarded the Early Career Award by the International Society of Behavioural Medicine in 2021, which is the highest honor for young researchers in the field. Prof Luo received her PhD in Epidemiology from University of California, Los Angeles, USA, and postdoctoral training in Health Behaviours in The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
