Andrew Sixsmith

Biography

Andrew Sixsmith is a dual citizen of Canada and the United Kingdom, and has held academic appointments in gerontology in both countries. He was the founding scientific director of AGE-WELL Network of Centres of Excellence, Canada's ageing and technology network, from 2015-2020, and is now an AGE-WELL network advisor. He is a past President of the International Society of Gerontechnology. His research focuses on health and well-being in later life, technology and ageing, social connection, independent living, technology policy, the digital divide, and understanding the innovation process.

Andrew has held leadership and advisory roles in numerous international research projects and initiatives with academic, government, and industry partners. He received his doctorate from the University of London and has published over 200 articles and six books, primarily in the field of ageing and technology.
