Tanya Marchant
Biography
Professor Marchant an epidemiologist with over 15 years experience of living and working in sub-Saharan Africa. The focus of her research has been implementation science: generating evidence about what works to maximise coverage of high quality health care for women and children, using measurement to inform implemention and adjust programming.
She has lived in The Gambia at the Farafenni Medical Reseach Centre site 1990-95 working for Harvard School of Public Health; in Ifakara, Tanzania 1997-2000 working for Ifakara Health Institute and Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute; and in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania 2001-07 working for LSHTM and IHI. Since 2007, she is based at LSHTM in London while continuing to travel and work in sub-Saharan Africa.
Currently, she is the Principal Investigator of the IDEAS project at LSHTM and co-editor of the journal Tropical Medicine & International Health.
