Dr Wail Ahmad Hayajneh
Biography
Dr Wail Ahmad Hayajneh is a Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in Irbid, Jordan. He is the immediate former dean of School of Medicine at JUST which witnessed very significant jumps in international ranking over the last few years. He is also the Chairman of National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) of Jordan and a consultant for WHO. Dr Hayajneh had also served as Deputy CEO at King Abdullah University Hospital and part time board member of Jordanian Higher Education Accreditation Commission (HEAC).
Among other appointments, he is a part-time consultant at the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman. He served before as the Chairman of the Jordanian Pediatric Board Committee and Chairman of Jordanian Vaccines and Sera Licensing and Re-licensing Committee. Dr. Hayajneh is a member of the Jordanian National Infection Control Committee, Jordan Experts Committee for Pandemics, and Jordan AMR committees.
Dr Hayajneh is American Board-certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and Infection Control (CIC). He has also published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including recent papers in Lancet Infectious Diseases, Human vaccines & immunotherapeutics, BMC infectious diseases, International Journal of Infectious Diseases, Vaccine, Bone Marrow Transplant, J Obstet Gynaecol, Eur J Gynaecol Oncol, BMC Research Notes, the Journal of Medical Virology, Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and others.
Dr Hayajneh has a special passion for Immunization, Antimicrobial Stewardship Practices, and Infection Control. He is very active along these paths at local, regional, and international levels. Dr Hayajneh research interests include vaccines studies, antimicrobial resistance, infection control practices, and clinical pediatrics. He is currently the principal investigator of several studies with a special focus on defining local public health priorities for Jordan.
