Professor Wibool Piyawattanametha
Biography
Dr Wibool Piyawattanametha is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Advanced Imaging Research Center at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand, and an Adjunct Professor at Michigan State University, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA in 2004. With over 4,000 citations and over 200 peer-reviewed publications, his research focuses on AI, MEMS, photonics, and biomedical imaging for early cancer detection. He is a Fellow of the International Science Council (ISC) and SPIE, and serves as Senior Editor of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters. Awarded the Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award, he was also recognized among the Top 40 Young Scientists under 40 by the World Economic Forum. Furthermore, Dr. Piyawattanametha is the founder of DeepPap, Inc. and DeepMam, Inc., developing AI-driven diagnostic platforms to advance equitable and sustainable health innovation globally.
