Professor Xiang-Sheng Chen

Dr Xiang-Sheng Chen is Professor of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) Institute of Dermatology and Senior Advisor of the National Center for STD Control at Nanjing, China. He received his medical degree in 1984 and PhD degree in 1998 in China. His research interests focus on development, validation and introduction of strategies to control sexually transmitted infections (STIs). 

Professor Chen is the key person to technically coordinate and support the national STI control programmes in China, including the National Syphilis Control Programme and National Chlamydia Intervention Programme (CCiP) Pilot Project, and the STI research initiatives in China. He is now the vice president of the Chinese Association of STD and AIDS Prevention and Control, a member of the WHO STI Guidelines Development Group, and a member of the International Advisory Board of Lancet Infectious Diseases. As a principal investigator, Professor Chen has led several research projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the CAMS Initiative for Innovative Medicine, and WHO. He has authored more than 180 papers in international peer-review journals.
