Ya Diul Mukadi
Biography
Dr Ya Diul Mukadi, MPH, is the Deputy Chief of the TB Division within the Bureau for Global Health’s Office of Infectious Diseases at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In that role, he provides strategic guidance and technical assistance to USAID, host governments, and partners in the design and implementation of innovative approaches and tools to control TB. This includes overseeing USAID-funded TB clinical trials. He provides guidance on USAID’s strategic approach to TB care and treatment programmes. As well, he provides intra-agency expert technical leadership, policy, and program guidance to USAID’s Pillar Bureaus, Missions, and to Regional Bureaus.
Before joining USAID, Dr Mukadi worked in several capacities for Family Health International (now FHI 360), over the course of 10 years. He served as the Director of Care and Treatment Programmes and was responsible for the strategic design and implementation of HIV treatment programs and interventions for the clinical management of TB/HIV. Prior to his work at FHI 360, Dr Mukadi was a Medical Officer in the Global TB Programme at the World Health Organization.
Dr Mukadi has more than 30 years of experience in public health and has contributed to numerous publications on TB and TB/HIV.
