Dr Yann Christie Sissinto Adjovi
Biography
Yann Christie Sissinto ADJOVI is a Full Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the National University of Agriculture of Benin and a senior expert in food safety. Her research focuses on the identification and characterization of mycotoxins, particularly aflatoxins, as well as the development of alternative control methods to improve food safety in West Africa.
Holding a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Abomey-Calavi, she has also completed training in food biotechnology and biology applied to development. She has completed scientific internships at leading European and African institutions. Since 2022, she has directed the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory, where she oversees projects on food safety, food health risk assessment, and the development of innovative alternative control strategies. She has supervised numerous undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, actively contributing to building local scientific capacity.
Author of several scientific publications, she is regularly sought out as a consultant by regional and international organizations. A member of the Organization of Women in Science for Development (OWSD), the Academy of Young Scientists of Benin (AJSB), the Agriculture Commission of the National Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters of Benin (ANSALB) and several learned societies, she is also involved in popularizing science and raising community awareness of good food safety practices.
